Welding curtain
A welding curtain is a PVC screen that protects bystanders in a welding area against harmful UV radiation, infrared light, sparks and spatter. The welder themselves wears a helmet and protective clothing. Anyone working in the same space without that protection is at risk. Cepro supplies welding curtains that demonstrably remove that danger, tested to the most current European standard. We make no compromises on safety.
When do you need a welding curtain?
The machine operator two metres away, the draughtsman sitting at his desk and the class of students looking on while a fellow student lays their first weld. They wear no protection, yet they are exposed to the same radiation and spatter. A welding curtain ensures that they can simply get on with their work.
Construction and metalworking companies use curtains to screen welding stations off from the production floor. Maintenance firms place them temporarily around a workplace. And training institutes use them as a fixed partition between welding stations, so that an instructor keeps an overview and can give explanations in between. Such curtains are also widely used as screening for the front of a welding booth, so that the surrounding space stays safe and accessible.
Occupational health and safety guidelines recommend enclosing welding work. What many companies do not realise: with a welding curtain on rails, that requirement is already met, for a relatively small investment.
How is a Cepro welding curtain made?
Cepro welding curtains are finished all round with a 5 cm wide reinforcement hem, by means of high-frequency welding. The PVC fuses together at the edges into a single whole: strong, sealed and able to withstand intensive daily use. With cheaper alternatives, the hem is sewn or stitched. That looks similar, but comes loose somewhat more quickly with regular use.
The 7 plastic hanging eyelets along the top and the press studs on both sides are likewise made of PVC and fuse with the curtain itself. There are no weak joins. Every standard curtain is supplied including 7 free steel hooks, immediately suitable for tubes with a diameter of 33.7 mm. With most competitors, you buy those separately.
Certified to DIN ISO 25980
Quality in the construction is one thing. Demonstrable safety is another. All Cepro welding curtains comply with DIN ISO 25980: the European standard that determines how much harmful radiation must be filtered out, including the dangerous infrared light and UV radiation during welding work. The curtains are self-extinguishing and go out within three seconds of the flame source being removed. The test is repeated every five years, after which a new certificate is issued. To an inspector, client or dealer, you can thereby always demonstrate that you meet the current standard.
Yes. They are self-extinguishing: after the flame source is removed, they go out within three seconds. This is a requirement within the DIN ISO 25980 certification.
The European standard for welding protection curtains is DIN ISO 25980. This standard sets requirements for the degree of radiation protection and the fire safety of the material. Cepro welding curtains are retested every five years and provided with a valid certificate.
A welding curtain is a certified PVC screen that protects bystanders against UV radiation, infrared light, sparks and spatter during welding work. The welder is protected by helmet and clothing; the curtain protects everyone in the immediate vicinity who does not have that protection.
Which size suits your workshop?
Standard Cepro curtains are 140 cm wide, available in heights from 160 to 300 cm in steps of 20 cm, mostly straight from stock. Anyone wanting to cover more space can order a made-to-measure welding curtain: up to a maximum of 16 m² in a single piece, with a maximum height of 800 cm.
The curtains are available in four versions. The three transparent variants, Orange (orange-red), Bronze (brownish) and Green, filter harmful radiation while retaining visibility and light. You use the non-transparent Green variant when two welders work side by side and each other's welding light needs to be blocked out completely.
Using the press studs on both sides, you easily link curtains together into a larger screen, even without ordering made-to-measure straight away.
From advice to installation: fully taken care of
Sometimes the need is greater than a single curtain. How do you set up a complete welding area so that safety and production do not get in each other's way? Through on-site advice, we think along about the entire set-up: screening around welding booths, special suspensions or a complete solution in which curtains, structure and installation are supplied as a single package. Our team has more than ten years of experience with on-site installations. From the first piece of advice to the last hook on the wall.
Standard curtains up to 300 cm high can be delivered straight away. Made-to-measure curtains or versions not held in stock are available within a maximum of two production weeks.
Welding curtain prices: what does honest quality cost?
Large stocks and optimised production make it possible to price in line with the market without compromising on quality or certification. Standard curtains in the sizes 140x160, 140x180 and 140x200 cm are available in value packs of 10 per box. Made-to-measure curtains and larger sizes are priced on request.
Every standard version is supplied including 7 free steel hooks, suitable for tubes with a diameter of 33.7 mm. Ready to install, without extra purchase. For more complex installations, Cepro's installation team takes care of the full fitting on site.
