Sparks, spatter and harmful welding light pose a serious risk to everyone working near a welder. The welder themselves is well protected, but their surroundings often are not. Welding strips solve that: flexible PVC strips that screen off the welding environment without disrupting the work process. At Cepro they are all certified to DIN ISO 25980. What are welding strips?
Welding strips are individual, vertical strips of durable PVC that together form a welding screen. Unlike a closed welding curtain, they allow passage for people, forklift trucks and goods, while still effectively filtering harmful welding light. The strips hang with a mutual overlap, so that no radiation can slip past the edges. A few examples from practice:
In a production company, welding strips screen the welding spot off from the rest of the hall, so that colleagues can safely carry on working.
At a vocational school, they create well-organised welding booths where instructors can keep a close eye on students.
In a maintenance company, they are deployed at changing locations, thanks to the simple mounting system.
When do you choose welding strips?
Welding strips are ideally suited to places where traffic needs to be able to move through the screen. Think of walkthrough areas in workshops, entrances to welding booths or zones where forklift trucks and pallet trucks regularly pass. In that case, you choose strips with a thickness of 2 or 3 mm: sturdy enough for mechanical load and flexible enough to move along when passing through.
Construction companies, metalworking companies, maintenance firms and training institutes are typical users. What they have in common: welding takes place in shared spaces, and the protection of bystanders is therefore an obligation.

Cepro welding strips: certified and made to measure
Not all welding strips are the same. A common complaint in the market: rolls are offered online without the seller being able to produce a test report. With Cepro, it is different. All our welding strips are approved to DIN ISO 25980. That means they filter out enough harmful radiation, even the dangerous infrared light and the UV radiation from welding processes. And it also means that the strips are self-extinguishing: they go out within three seconds after the flame source has been removed.
Every five years, the strips are resubmitted for testing. After a positive result, we receive a new certificate. This way, you can always demonstrate that the welding screen in your workshop meets the applicable standards. Would you like strips cut to size? No problem. We supply them in the required lengths, including a hole pattern for the correct overlap during installation. You do not have to cut or fit anything yourself.
They dampen on average around 30 dB for bystanders outside the screen. The strips are sound-insulating, not sound-absorbing: on the welder's own side, the sound is amplified. For bystanders and instructors giving instruction in the same room, the reduction of 30 dB makes for a considerably quieter working environment.
These are available in four versions: Orange Transparent (orange-red), Bronze Transparent (brownish), Green Transparent and Green Non-Transparent.

Welding strips that move along when passing through
When someone walks through the screen or a forklift truck drives through it, the strips move along like a kind of accordion, or folding away. They then return to their original position by themselves. This pendulum effect is made possible by Cepro's patented system of plastic hanging clips. The clips are placed around a tube of Ø 33.7 mm (one inch thick) and hold the strips in the right place, while allowing them to move freely. Easy to install and reliable in daily use.

Technical specifications
Cepro welding strips are always 300 mm wide and available in a thickness of 2 or 3 mm. The choice depends on the mechanical load: if people or vehicles regularly pass through the screen, you choose 3 mm. Rolls are supplied as standard in a length of 50 metres. Anyone who prefers to get started straight away without cutting orders strips cut and punched to size.
The strips are available in four colours, each with its own application:
Orange Transparent: orange-red, transparent
Bronze Transparent: brownish, transparent
Green Transparent: green, transparent
Green Non-Transparent: fully opaque, especially for situations where two welders work side by side and need to block out each other's welding light completely.
The strips also offer noise reduction: owing to the material thickness, they dampen on average around 30 dB for bystanders outside the screen. An important nuance: the strips are sound-insulating, not sound-absorbing. On the welder's own side, the sound is amplified. For instructors giving instruction to other students in the room during welding, the noise reduction on the outside is a welcome side benefit.
